Holographic Display of 3D Objects Based on Multiple Fractional Fourier Transform with Zero-order and Conjugate Image Suppressed

Abstract
In order to realize holographic display of three-dimensional (3D) objects and suppress the conjugate image and zero-order, a novel method for calculating phase hologram of 3D object is proposed based on multiple fractional Fourier transform (FrFT). By considering the normalized mean square error (NMSE) between the original 3D objects and the numerical reconstructed images, the qualities of reconstructed images of the amplitude holograms calculated with conventional method and of the phase holograms calculated by the method proposed in this paper are compared. Electro-holographic display system based on a phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM) is also established, especially for the reconstruction of phase holograms. Results of numerical reconstruction and electro-holographic reconstruction verify that, by the proposed method, the zero-order and conjugate image can be suppressed and the qualities of reconstructed images are improved.
