Dear Holographers:
Pleasant surprise!!!
There will be a change of location for the Eighth International Symposium on Display Holography. It will still be held in Shenzhen. But instead of the Baoan Incubation Park, we will be moving to the Shenzhen Waterlands Resort, the new "Walt Disney World Resort" of Shenzhen! Please visit it at www.szwaterlands.com.
The main reason for the change is that the Baoan Incubation Park does not have enough beds to accommodate us. It will require some participants to live in downtown Baoan and be bussed to the symposium each day. The new Shenzhen Waterlands Resort has all the facilities and four-star accommodations, along with air conditioning and Internet services.
We all have Dr. Frank Fan to thank for his hard work and resourcefulness in finding and negotiating such a deal. There will be no change in the registration fees.
On a personal note, this event brings back happy memories that took place in 1979. The Thomas Alva Edison Foundation held a conference in Florida's Walt Disney World Resort. It invited about 100 brightest high school students from around the world and a dozen of us gave lectures to them throughout the week. Our family lived in the Tree House Village inside the resort where peacocks and armadillos roamed the streets. There are Tree Houses in the Shenzhen Waterlands Resort as well. I wonder where they got the idea!
The dress code for the symposium is casual. Bring your swim suits and sun tan lotions!
